Leaving/Arriving

As some of you may already have noticed, Jonathan’s tenure with the Law Office of Gottlieb & Gottlieb LLP came to a happy end on December 31, 2020. Although Jonathan was always highly motivated to ensure that our firm was best in class, litigation never really suited him; he preferred to focus on business development, operations, and marketing. Once he had helped bring our practice to its current position, Jonathan grew eager to bring his hard-earned experience to a different, less adversarial environment.

Having trained our new office manager, Stephanie Wills, to assume his responsibilities for implementation, reimbursement processing, office administration, and systems management, Jonathan has taken a position as Director of Information Services for Autism New Jersey, a non-profit advocacy group. We are proud of Jonathan and grateful for everything he has done to make this law firm the very best of its kind.

But this is not our only piece of good news: starting this year, Qian Julie Wang will be joining our practice as managing partner.

A graduate of Yale Law School and Swarthmore College, Qian Julie has a decade’s experience representing Fortune 500 companies, governmental entities, and individuals in complex civil litigation. Having clerked on two appellate courts and litigated over 40 civil appeals (including two amicus briefs filed before the U.S. Supreme Court), Qian Julie is extensively familiar with discrimination litigation, including those on the basis of disabilities, national origin, gender, and race. As a former corporate litigator, Qian Julie knows that affording special needs children, immigrants, and communities of color access to the legal resources usually reserved for wealthy corporate interests is the first step to eradicating systemic barriers such as the school-to-prison pipeline.

A sought-after author and speaker, Qian Julie’s writings have appeared in major publications such as the New York Times and the Washington Post. She also speaks regularly on issues related to education, poverty, immigration, and diversity. Her first book, Beautiful Country, a poignant literary memoir about her childhood as an undocumented immigrant in New York City, will be published with Penguin Random House this coming September.

Although Qian Julie is available to take on some cases, she is currently focused on expanding the practice to related fields, such as discrimination litigation and appellate work. As a firm, we are fully dedicated to advocating for the rights of special needs children throughout their schooling years and into adulthood and employment. Indeed, our clients already trust us to provide the justice they deserve with a superlative degree of service that simply cannot be obtained anywhere else; Qian Julie’s expertise and talents will only help bring that trademark to staggering new heights.
